Signpost Annual General Meeting

The Signpost Annual General Meeting will take place at the Smithton Free Church, Inverness, IV2 7YU, on the 10th of November at 1pm.

After the AGM there will be a marketplace, giving local third sector organisations the chance to promote themselves and the work that they do, to Signpost members and other third sector organisations as well as the public. Doors will open at 11am to allow organisations the chance to set-up their stalls.

Mission and Objectives

“Signpost seeks to promote the benefit of the communities resident in Inverness-shire and Nairn-shire, to arrange the delivery of the services of volunteers to individuals and communities in the Highlands Area, and to assist the work of the voluntary associations and statutory authorities engaged in advancing education, furthering health, relieving poverty, sickness or distress, or in pursuing any objects, which are now or hereafter may be deemed by law to be charitable”

Opportunity Description – Exciting opportunity to chair a small group of trustees working with volunteers delivering talks to people aged 55 +.

Organisation Information – Peer speakers aged 50 + deliver interactive presentations on personal and community safety issues to groups of older people.

Service Committee Treasurer SSAFA

Opportunity Description – Ensure systems of financial administration are in place using the Financial Management System (FMS). Abide by the code of confidentiality and undertake induction. Ensure contact with Finance Manager in Central Office. Monitor income and expenditure. Ensure the Committee Account is audited annually prior to submission to Central Office. Provide a financial report at each Service Committee meeting. Oversee banking of any fundraising. Ensure Service Committee account is audited annually (for year to 31st December). Submit accounts to central office before 28th February annually. Ensure the bank accounts are maintained correctly with relevant signatories to bank account. Support and promote the work of the Service Committee and the Association. Have one of the four Committee voting rights.

Organisation Information – SSAFA is a volunteer-led organisation that started in 1885 and has been built on volunteering. Volunteers are the foundation of the organisation. SSAFA provides life long support for our armed forces and their families.

British Heart Foundation (Highland)

Opportunity Description – Help raise the profile of the British Heart Foundation and awareness of heart disease within schools, colleges and/or nurseries by giving short presentations about the work of the charity and the importance of healthy lifestyles.

Organisation Information –  The aim of the British Heart Foundation is to play a leading role in the fight against heart disease so that it’s no longer a major cause of premature death or disability.

Volunteer Escort

Shopmobility Highland

Opportunity Description – Volunteer escorts accompany wheelchair users on minibus journeys and with supermarket shopping and for going into the town. Organisation Information Shopmobility Highland provides electric and manual equipment to members of the public with disabilities, be it short or long term. There is also a mini bus service to assist with supermarket shopping.
